A hot air balloon flight area is planned to be created in Uzbekistan, following the example of Turkish Cappadocia.

The heads of the Ministry of Ecology, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Defense were instructed to adopt a program for the development of extreme tourism.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev set the task of adopting a program for the development of extreme tourism in Uzbekistan at a meeting on June 3.

According to him, in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region, an entrepreneur attracted 100 thousand tourists in 2023 with 2 hot air balloons and 10 hang gliders and paragliders. Another 10 businessmen want to develop extreme tourism in Bostanlyk, Parkent and Aydarkul.

“At the Muynak airport, extreme tourism can be developed with organizing parachute sport and skydiving. To do this, it is necessary to create a separate flight area, like in Turkish Cappadocia. In Cappadocia in 2023, hot air balloon services were provided to 600 thousand tourists, which brought in $100 million in revenue,” the head of state said (quoted from the story on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel).
